Dear Mom and Dad,
College is great. I am meeting new friends and learning new skills. I am becoming very popular. In fact my new friends invite me to parties every night of the week. Don’t worry about me partying too much though, my new friends are very serious about forcing me to buckle down and work very hard. They often comment on how important it is to prepare for the rest of your life while in college. They are often showing me new things that will help me in my future career. The guys also are very good at introducing me to the men on campus who will be the future leaders of the country. Dad, you always said the the contacts you make in college will serve you later in life. In fact just last night I went over to the stadium and was introduced to the football team. Two of the guys I was with have already signed with the NFL. Next time we watch a game together I will be able to tell you some things about the players even the sportscasters don’t know.
I know you were worried when I got assigned to live with an upperclassmen. But he has been great. From the moment I moved in he has gone out of his way to show me new things. He has opened my eyes to a whole new world here at college. I am already putting much of what he has taught me to use in the real world. Tonight he is taking me to the best frat on campus. He told me that they could use someone like me over there.
Hope all is well at home
Love, Billy
P.S. My roommate has been talking recently about a way I could earn some money. The extra cash would be good and would reduce the amount you have to send me each month. I’ll let you know if it works out, he says I can start this weekend.
