Having grown up in east Texas with a Mexican mother and a American father, Pete feels a sense of pride at being an American, but also feels the pull of his Mexican heritage.   He tries to be a good person and help out those less fortunate.  Pete spends at least one day a week down at home depot hiring day laborers to help him out around the farm.  He finds them to be eager, hard workers filled with Mexican pride.  At the end of the day, Pete himself often feels filled with Mexican pride as well…..big, thick Mexican pride.
